If this has been posted before I'm sorry.

Can someone please explain in simple terms the difference between

yamaha 23, 62, 82 and Z
There is a HUGE price difference in these.

I am new to sax. played bass for 20 years.

I can explain the differences in just about any bass.

What about the differences in the saxes.

Is the price jump really worth it.

I read a post by one guy in here who traded his mark VI for a yami 23 and loved it.

The 23/25/275 is the entry level model.

The 62 is the entry level pro model.

The 82Z and 875EX are their top Custom series pro model.

The difference in price is down to the workmanship - obviously more time is spent in the manufacture and finishing on the more expensive models than for the student ones.

What I meant was the difference in playability, tone and quality.
Does a 23 sound and play as good as a top level?
Is the extreme price difference waranted in terms of useability?

Dave: Every 23 I've played has been a bit too bright for my tastes - but they are decent for beginners. The higher Yamaha models may be a bit smoother and darker, and better made - say, better to the touch, too.

I see where you said you were in Northridge at this time. I live in Valencia. DAVE
