Hello again everyone,
Well, I thought I wanted a low Eb bass clarinet. I've played several really nice ones over the last few weeks and almost bought one. Then a friend loaned me his model 33 low c Selmer for a few days. After getting use to the extra length and weight, I really enjoyed having the extra range. So I guess I'll hold out until the right low c comes along. Thanks to everyon for your input!

Hunting for a new instrument can be fun.
Playing is funner.

What are you going to play with it? (forgive me if I don't keep track with everyone's preferences, I hardly can memorize all the kids' birthdays, shoe sizes, eating habits, ...)

I ask because most of the repertoire I played so far didn't even ask for a low Eb, let alone of lower notes (Peer Gynt being the noble exception).

Just that you aren't disappointed when your lowermost quarters don't get the treatment they deserve...

Hi Ben,
I play mostly jazz, improvised music. I found the the 3 extra notes to be very useful from a creative standpoint. Thanks for the reply!
