Bari MPC for jazz and classical

I would say a meyer or otto link in a 5 or 6 facing should work well. With the right reed combination you should be able to blend well in a concert setting, but still be able to get some extra volume and cut when pushed.

A HR Yanagisawa #7 would let you straddle that line quite nicely.

I'd say a vandoren V16 B5 or a V5 in a medium-medium closed facing could also work.

I will second that and add the selmer s90s can do both well too.

If you are going to get a nice bari piece then the first thing you need to change is your attitude if "won't break for getting beat around a little" is your number one priority. Any of the pieces suggested so far would be reasonable choices but if you are going to toss them about or let them rattle around lose in your case unprotected you'll eventually end up with a crack, a chip out of the tip or a ding in one of the rails. Otherwise get a Rico Metalite - it's not the best choice for the type of music you are playing but it will take being 'beat around a little' better than just about anything else out there and if you do manage to break it you'll only be out $30.

If I talked my parents into getting me a $200 sax mouthpiece and treated it this way, the mouthpiece wouldn't have been the only thing getting "beat around a little".
