Hi Guys,
Annyone know anything about Ball Beavon clarinet,my sister was clearing out my late uncle's house today and came across one,it is made of wood and has an older key system that I do not recognise. I tried googling but only found pictures of one which was being restored, mine looks just like it. Here's a couple of pictures of my one and of the one I found on the net

Well, it's a 'simple system' clarinet meaning no rings on the top joint, 2 rings on the lower, and minimal pinky keys/alternate fingerings. Basically a forerunner to the Albert system.
Fingering charts are practically non-existent.
Many are high pitch and not usable in a current setting. Unless of course everyone is using high pitch instruments.
Market value on these simple system clarinets is generally quite low unless they're exceptionally rare, not a stencil, in perfect condition, and a highly sought after example.
So.... It's kinda neat, but basically unusable to today's clarinetists.

Fingering charts are out there but the fingering is awkward compared to Boehm system. The high pitch could be fixed with a custom made barrel. I agree it's kind of a cool old relic but probably not of much value to clarinet players though there is a small niche of players who like to play old compositions on period correct instruments.
