What surprises me: the price matches that of a good decent SBA horn. Have BAs really become that expensive? I thought they were not as expensive as SBAs.
Seller stresses the fact it's a pre 1936 BA. Are the earlier BA that special or, in other words, "better" than the later models.
I heard some time ago that the later BAs that are close to the SBAs in serial number and design ar more desirable.

I believe this very horn was for sale at saxquest for $6900 or so. It's clearly overpriced.
The toneholes being in line, BAs have a different feel than SBAs. I personally don't like it. My teachers 23k feels really weird, but I would also depend on the horns history and key height.
Also in terms of ergos Selmer always tweaked the design for the better at least in those days. I recently compared a 38k SBA to a 47k and there were differences in the feel of the action, with the 47k being better.

All Selmers vintage and new are over priced..... The average pay for a gig has not increased by that much in 20 years and gigs opportunities have decreased for horn players. Its insane that the tools of our trade have sky rocketed up to $12,000 when the average wedding sax player/gigging musician might pull out $20,000-30,000 a year from playing. The price hike started started When horn dealers shipped thousands of Selmer 5 digits to Japan. The sax shop I worked at would save the good 5 digits for ISHIMORI and sold the late ones in the states. That pissed me off to no end. Then I would see pictures and hear stories about these horns hanging on some doctors wall in his house like a piece of art. Any way BAs are great horns in the right hands.... You just have to get used to them. No other horn produced by Selmer has that sound or feather light action.Worth $7000.00 ? Yes if you have money to burn. .
