Well once again I'm a working sax pro. Joined a very good fusion band that records and works and has great potential. Hung out me shingle for the whole thing.

But hey, congrats for getting back into it, vonbraig. One sign you're a real musician is you can't quit playing even if you try.

What's "hung out me shingle" mean?
It's an old expression.
My Irish father used to use it (he'd be 110 if he were still alive).

It basically means getting the word out that you are available, advertising (ie for work, business).
... as in, a shop keeper would hang out a sign with his business on it.

Von, does this mean that you are playing in addition to your school teaching, or that you have quit teaching, altogether, to play full time?

I'm trying to get to the point where I teach vocal music two days a week to little kids and teach private lessons and play more.
I hav't been playing at all like the last three years
