Hi. I was wondering if anybody had heard of Frank Basile. He's a bari player from New York whos playing with some great bands: Vanguard jazz orchestra, Dizzy alumni big band etc...

I discovered his website which has afew sound clips and he sounds fantastic. his website is:

Does anybody know Frank and know what mouthpiece set-up he uses? It looks like a berg from the pictures. What a great bari sound he has got!!

Frank's a great player. He has been doing some touring with the singer Michael Bublé. He's been in NYC for a few years now, and getting more and more gigs. Recently Gary Smulyan moved away from NYC, and Frank has taken over lots of Gary's gigs. They're both heavily from the Pepper Adams school of bari playing.

Frank is great and when I saw the Vanguard orchestra at the art museum I felt like I was listening to Pepper Adams reincarnated. Good or bad, you decide, but I thought it was great playing anyhow :)
