It seems there is an interest in mouthpiece passaround these days and since our brothers and sisters in Australia and New Zealand are always left behind, I thought I would do something for them.

I can include up to two of my models as part of the passaround:
  • ASC Scirocco soprano
  • ASC Mistral alto
  • ASC Foehn tenor (HR)
  • ASC Borrum tenor (Metal)
I know I won't be able to please everybody with tip openings so I will go for what I believe are standard tip openings as follows: Soprano 0.060", Alto 0.075" and Tenor 0.105".

If I send two mouthpieces, they will need to travel together throughout the passaround, no splitting of the package. You have 7 days to vote for your preferred mouthpieces in the poll.

I'll quote @Sigmund451 for the admin stuff:
"If you happen to play the piece and you want to buy it you can. I will simply make a new piece and put it in circulation.

For sanitation reasons please clean the piece when you get it and when you ship it. DO NOT use hot water on hard rubber. Use sanitizer or a bit of alcohol. Dont do long soaks in solutions and please protect the beak with tape or a patch. Please refrain from using really destructive ligs. Metal is fine but some inverted ligs really dig into pieces. Just treat it kindly. "

We are "on" once we have 10 participants!

Shoot me a DM with your interest and your details and I will add you to the list.

If we’re fortunate enough to have those of us in Adelaide included, thanks in advance Max!
Hey D, I do not discriminate, you folks in Adelaide would of course be included in! Just cast your vote. So far, I only have 2 firm interested parties who sent me a DM. Cheers, Max

With only 2 persons having registered their interest, the passaround is not going to happen.

I'll take it as a lesson-learned...
That’s a shame I would have liked to have tried the 2 I voted for. There are many saxophone players in New Zealand who I’m sure would have liked to have tried them too but they are not members on SOTW. If it’s of any use I could suggest having both pieces ‘resident’ at the best saxophone store Vanguard Orchestral in the capital Wellington. I know them well and use them often. Most of the main players in NZ use this store for repairs overhauls etc Having your pieces there as a demo would maybe work? They also stock BSS pieces but not on a demo basis. Just a thought. Happy to help if I can. Cheers. Alex

So here is the final plan.

I will be sending 3 mouthpieces for pass-around within Australia and New Zealand:
  • ASC Scirocco Soprano 7 (0.065") and ASC Foehn Tenor 7* (0.105") to @Alex Nyman in New Zealand
  • ASC Borrum 7* (0.105'') to @DC in Australia
The mouthpieces would arrive at their destination sometime in November. Contact me if you want to be included in the pass-around. Otherwise, Alex and DC will pass the mouthpieces to their friends locally.

I’ll get your Borrum in as many hands and faces as possible here in Adelaide and can move it on to other Aus locations as well. Can’t wait for a play, Sebastian sounds incredible on his!

Dusty and @meven ASC, can I try the Borrum after Dusty? Bit big for me but it’ll give me an idea and I can see if anyone here wants to play it.

I am sure that can be arranged. Maybe you can send it over to Melbourne after you are done with it.

Really look forward to reading a review on Borrum as it looks really cool! Wonder that if Mr. Steve Neff will write a review on it in the future.
It is quite possible that @Nefertiti will receive a Borrum for review by the end of the year. I just need to find the time to make one for Steve...

Sounds like quite the treat. I'm eager to hear the feedback on the Borrum, though mine may arrive here first :D

Yours is already on the way so it should reach you soon I would think! can't wait to hear what you have to say about it.

All depends how quick it gets through customs, but I hope quick! I'm eager to give it a play, hopefully while my family is here (to help with babysitting) so I can get some real playtime in!

I'm living between Melbourne and Hobart and would be interested in having a honk. Strange there aren't more Melbourne folk around here
You must be living on a boat then! ;)

For now, the Aus pass-around will start in Adelaide, then Canberra, followed by Melbourne. I have not heard of any interested parties in NSW, WA, QLD, TAS (unless you are in TAS) or NT.

The NZ pass-around will start in Wellington.
