So this is my last year of being able to try out for All Virginia State Band on the Bari. Here is the prepared piece, http://vboda.org/AllVa/Auditions/2011Prepared/All-Va 2011 Bari Sax.pdf
I need help in terms of what is the main theme they are looking for this year? I remember a couple of years ago, there were a lot of slurred octave jumps, which is not easy to do(as far as I know). This year for All District, they were looking for range, because they put a high F# above the stave at the end of a run that starts at Bb below the staff. For the All State piece, I just need to know what I should be looking out for the most. I could also use some help with how to approach this beast. I have done this audition by myself for the last 2 years and I gotten 15th place and 7th respectively, so I am going for the number 1 this year! Thanks.
