Arnett provides a masterful demonstration of how to build a beautiful solo in this performance. The tune is actually "Deep Purple" (not "Still of the Night"), but what he does with it is what matters. He goes from ballad to wailing, seamlessly! This maybe should go in the jazz and improv section in answer to those asking how to improvise, but it's so much Arnett Cobb that I put it here.

Check it out and listen to the whole thing:

This is a nice blues solo from Cobb on a brilliant CD in the fantastic "Definitive Black and Blue Sessions" series. Gatemouth Brown on guitar! and a great little nod to Cleanhead in first solo chorus.
