Hello everyone, I'm new here and have a question that I hope someone here can help me with. I have always liked the sound of the sax on Men at Work's "Who Can It Be Now". If I google Greg Ham there is a web site that show pictures of his MarkVII and I believe a Selmer mouthpiece, a C* that looks to be an S80. I wonder if that was what he used for that song? Does anyone know? I greatly appreciate any insights.

Based off of the link above, it is indeed a C* with a 4 Rico Royal Reed, but I couldn't tell you if he used something else for that song. Sorry.

If he's that bright on this setup I don't know what to believe anymore lol
Would you believe that there may be some processing on his signal?

When I first moved to Melbourne in the late '80's I did a session for friends at a Carlton studio and left the engineer a bunch of business cards as I was trying to establish myself as a sax player. Found out later it was Greg Ham's place and he had graciously accepted my cards without comment. Felt a right pratt then and pretty embarrassed.
Shame how the plagiarism case many years later tainted his iconic Down Under flute solo and, I guess indirectly(?), lead to his death.

Thank you everyone for your comments. I thought it was nice that Nevellesax added his personal story about his involvement with Greg Ham. Thank you! Quite a shame if the plagiarism case affected him so badly.
Well I'm no closer to getting to the bottom of his great sound but I think I can ask about another player who I think has a great sound as well. Similar but a bit darker,,,Steve Norman of Spandau Ballet and the tone he gets on "True" Anyone know what mouthpiece he used?
