OK :) Now I'm completely confused.. i can only share impressions about that which I recieived. How that fits in the greater world of OL Florida replicas, I have no idea..
No worries! Just clarifying the details that model it is based on a Double Ring Otto Link (sometimes called Double Band), which was made after the company moved from New York to Pompano Beach, Florida in 1955. Hence a Florida Double Ring Otto Link, not to be confused with the later Florida No USA Link made after 1965, or 1967+ Florida USA Link.

Glad it is playing well, i have been tempted by these on more than one occasion and your review makes it even more tempting!

Any new experiences with this?

Pepper123 and B Flat: do you still prefer these over your Link(s)?

I have the opportunity to try one in a 9 opening tomorrow.
I still really like mine and reach for it before my link pieces.
Mine is a 9 tip also, although closer to an 8* in opening size.

I play on it every now and then but in the end it's not as good as my Link. So I do not prefer it over my Link .. BTW, I asked them to make a 9* because as Flat says, the numbering is a bit different then the Links.

Thank you for your experiences!

Pepper123: I actually play the Link STM that was refaced and opened to .125 by HWP for our friend Thomas. You tried this one some years ago, I remember, on one of our „Barisax-Spcl.-Workshops“ and you said it came close to your Link, so I am curious to playtest the Gottsu.

I hope that the pandemic will let us meet again this year…

All best

Gottsu produces the Double Ring and Master 2021 in metal. The Double Ring is based on the Otto Link Florida. The Gottsu Double Ring is an excellent mouthpiece. It sounds a little softer and more colorful than, for example, the Retro Revival Super D FL. I have been blowing the Gottsu Double Ring for two years and consider it one of the best replicas currently available! The Master 2021 is based on the Master Link from the forties: it sounds much darker than the Double Ring model. I have also been blowing the Master 2021 for about a year: I am very satisfied with this mouthpiece: I like it even better than the Double Ring because its sound is larger, rounder, more colorful and more complex. I prefer this sound. Both mouthpieces are highly recommended!

According to Gary, the Yanagisawa mouthpiece he’s using is a new prototype he’s testing, not the regular metal mpc they currently sell, so it’s anybody’s guess what it’s really like. He sounds great on it, but would probably sound like that on anything he plays!
