Which model did you get B Flat? I was thinking you ordered The Master? but the website I'm looking at only shows that for Tenor.

The Sepia Tone Jazz Metal model looks like a great design though! Its a shame they don't make the Hibiki for Bari, as I think that would be a phenomenal design for a Bari Piece.

Yes, that's very tasty especially your upper register which has a lovely singing quality.
That and the deep subtone down-under (I don't mean Australia with that!).

Just had a Tenor Sepia Tone from a friend on my desk for some facing adaptions. I think it's a good design. For me it played similar to an Otto Link, maybe a little more presence soundwise. I had a lot of variety in character when I tried different reeds, more than on other mouthpiece designs I've played. The D'Addario blue (Rico Royal) cut sounded quite well with that design. That's what my friend prefers when he's playing it and I second that, it immediately worked nicely for me as well.

Nice - I'm glad it worked out and you're enjoying it. What reed(s) are you using? I've only played a couple of pieces with tips larger than .120 and I find I get a sort of reed slap generated buzz as the facings are often a bit longer to deal with the more open tip and I'm typically using a softer reed. Any chance of you being able to post a sound clip at some point??
I'm using La Voz medium and or medium soft along with the trusty old Rico Royal 3's.
Both respond well however the La Voz seem to have a little more edge to them.
I'll try to get a sound clip up soon but my playing wouldn't really do it justice.
pepper123 has a sound comparison clip on Facebook that shows the similarities to his Florida STM.

It's is the Sepia tone Jazz metal that I have.
They also have a HR piece called the VI (I think). Which by the description may have some similarities to the Jazz metal piece.

Here's a little sound clip.
I literally just ran upstairs and stuck the piece on for this so don't expect too much.
No effects were used in this recording (and hopefully no animals were hurt either).

You're getting a pretty nice sound out of that setup - nowhere near as buzzy as I thought it would be with that large a tip. Which horn did you make the clip on? Have you had a chance to play it for an extended period, I'm just wondering if it's fatiguing to play after an hour or more. Thanks.

It was on my 33 Conn Transitional.
Which is leaking just a little.
I haven't spent a long period on it as yet so not sure how fatiguing it might be, but it doesn't feel any harder to play than my DVNY 8 tip.
I'm looking forward to trying it on my King S20 when I have more time.

Very nice sound Nick. Full with a good amount of edge, very Link alike. You sounded a lot like Cecil Payne in the first riff!

Is there anyone who has experience with the metal baritone mouthpiece of Gottsu?
Are there any similarities with an Otto Link Florida?

Hi,

I initially bought a sepia tone non metal mouthpiece for alto and loved it, really free blowing, perfect intonation, but I'm a link player for decades do bought a jazz metal 7 star....best mouthpiece I have ever played. Like a link sound wise ie dark, but this brings a brightness the link never had. It has a fullness to the tone across the whole range. Easy blowing, you can puff notes out so quietly but blow hard also. It is the most versatile mouthpiece I have ever played. I don't think I wil play anything else from now on. Try it you will not be disappointed.

Hi,- I tried a Gottsu Sepiatone metal 8 on my 1939 Conn bari. while I liked sound and response very much, I was unable to tune a = 440. The mouthpiece is ca 1,3 cm (o,51 inch) shorter than my early Babitt metal Link.
Some of you tried it or play it on a Conn. Do you have similiar problems?
Thanks for your help

A kind of .. the bore is larger than my Link as well so I've put some transparent nail polish on the inside of the mpc. That works perfectly!

I've just been trialling a double ring Sepia no.9 for tenor - supposedly his take on a Florida Link. I can only say that quality is superb, a great rich tone that remains 'thick' over the whole range, and it is by far the best 'Link' I have played

Well its a take of a Double Ring or Double Band(some of which were indeed made in Florida, but mostly NY) but is referred to as a Double Ring link. While the model called Florida was made after and had two variants (No USA and USA).
