Is there anyone who has experience with the metal baritone mouthpiece of Gottsu?
Are there any similarities with an Otto Link Florida?

I just came across this thread after searching for the Gotsu sepia tone metal baritone piece after seeing your comparison video on Facebook.
Certainly sounds like a nice Florida link to me.
Very interesting mouthpieces.

Great mpc for sure, if the Link sound is what you're looking for. I had a chat with Smulyan and on one of the latest video's on facebook clips he is playing a Yanigasawa. After seeing the same thread you did, he was very much interested in the Gotssu as well and he will try to find one for trying as well.

I'd be interested in what he's looking for that prompted a change after all these years - which I think I asked in one of the other threads. It's been a while since I played a metal Yani bari piece but it and the JJ metal bari pieces he's supposedly been trying as well are probably naturally brighter than the Link he's played for so long. I'm also a bit surprised the Yani will tune on his horn as I remember the throat and chamber of these being fairly tight for use on a vintage horn.

His old one is simply worn out after 35 years and several refacings. And the change is not so abrupt as it seems to be: I hear him complaining about his Link already for some years. About the Yanigasawa: I played one years and years ago, and had no other problems than I had with my Link. But I agree, it feels and plays totally different. Not my cup of tea.

Thanks
How are you finding the piece?
And which was it?
It was the Gottsu Master which is in the style of an old Otto Link Master Link:

I bought one second hand and really liked the sound but the tip opening was .125 (marked 10) and I could only handle playing about 3 tunes on a gig before my embouchure was completely tired out. So I ordered a brand new one via Genzo in a .112 (marked 9) tip but didn't really like the sound so much. I sold the 9 but still have the 10.

I asked for an 8 tip for Baritone but since reading your reply I just clarified that I want a .120 tip, as it seems their numbering system is not inline with most others.

Just ordered my .120 tip baritone piece through Genzo.
Will be a couple weeks wait as that size is not in stocks, but I'm really looking forward to it.
Thanks Rik for the heads up.
It's on its way to me now.
Can't wait to see how it compares to my Florida baritone pieces.
Genzo at Gottsu has been great to deal with.

Based upon the pics on the website the craftsmanship looks great. I'm not sure it has enough baffle for me though. I have an STM that measures around .115 with a small wedge baffle added that I really like and these look similar but without the baffle. I'll be curious to hear your thoughts on how it blows in a .120.

Well it arrived today.
And I love it!!
Plays like my No USA STM but with a little more focus.
The sound is bigger too.
Tip and rails are nice and thin and the rails are nicely scooped out. (not as much as my STM).
I ordered their 9 tip which i believe measures .125.
I'm glad I went with this size tip as it's actually quite an easy blow for its size.
Has just the right amount of resistance for me (Similar to my Link STM).
I recently sold my No USA STM 9 tip and was having a few regrets about doing so until now.
This plays like the 9 but a little brighter and a lot more focused.
Tip opening is the same but this piece seems considerably louder, or at least I'm able to play louder on it.
I think If you like the way STM's play on baritone, there's a lot to like about these pieces.
Tunes perfectly on my Conn Transitional also.

Nice - I'm glad it worked out and you're enjoying it. What reed(s) are you using? I've only played a couple of pieces with tips larger than .120 and I find I get a sort of reed slap generated buzz as the facings are often a bit longer to deal with the more open tip and I'm typically using a softer reed. Any chance of you being able to post a sound clip at some point??
