Re: Anyone around here own the?

Haven't owned one of these but I've owned a few other Mauriats and I've test played some of their baris over the years. I have a 67R alto and owned a Sys-76 tenor for several years. Nice sounding horns and I never had any major issues with any of them. As far as the baris go, I don't care for their low A keywork because of the reach and in general the keywork and intonation are better on both Yani and Yamaha baris for not much more money. You'd need to do your research but I think you could get very similar horns with a different brand stamped on them for much cheaper. IMO, they're a bit too expensive new so a good deal on a lightly used one would be the way to go.

Yea that is what i was thinking.....I will stick with a YANI instead, i know the INTONATION will be spot on and i also agree that the P.Mauriat BARI'S are OVERPRICED. Thanks for you input GREATLY APPRECIATED.

If you don’t require a low A, the new Low Bb PM bari sax is wonderful. Sweet sound, built strong, and saved me a lot of bread vs the Selmer!

Well in full discloser I've been playing a Yani B992 since 2005 so I'm probably a bit biased. Although my primary alto is a Mauriat and two favorite tenors are a Taiwanese made Phil Barone and Tenor Madness Custom tenors. I also have a Low Bb bari that has Phil Barone's branding but I believe was made by Sahduoo in Taiwan that I really like. My belief based upon looking at lots of pictures is that Sahduoo makes Mauriat's baris as well as those sold under several other brand names including some of the Thomann baris that people have been posting about. I have nothing against Mauriat they make/sell very solid nice playing horns. However, their business model with all the advertising, endorsers, distributors and retailers adds a great deal of cost to the final product.
