Not a terrific horn. The price was OK if the pads were put in correctly. I would not go King in the early models for HS use. A Martin, Buescher or Conn would be better if you are looking for vintage. The King altos really didn't get it right until the Zephyr in the mid 30s. Post back if you need info on any model OR just PM me and we can talk. Value usually depends on looks and pads. You really will need to spend about $700 to get a good player from a name brand of this era. Keep looking.

I dont know if I would suggest a vintage horn for a youth. Unless he has intonation down and the ability to compensate you are doing him no favors. He needs a horn where he can be confident that when there is a probem it is the guy behind the mouthpiece....not what happens after said fellow!
