I went to a ENT at the Cleveland Clinic because I had thumping in my left ear. During the exam he found a thyroid nodule in my neck. They did an ultrasound and I have to go back tomorrow. Any of you ever have one of those?
My GP always suspected low thyroid because I am cold all the time. Would appreciate any input if you have had one. Kind of scarey!

A high proportion of adults have nodules in the thyroid gland. In Europe where there is less of a phobia against autopsies, it is commonplace to find nodules in the thyroid gland of middle aged individuals and older, which never give symptoms or problems of any kind. If it turns out to be cancer, there are different kinds but generally speaking the prognosis is very good when handled by a competent surgeon. Obviously, SOTW is not the place to get this sort of information, I am NOT an expert, and generally refrain from answering such questions. However, when it comes to thyroid nodules, it is highly unlikely that it will amount to something life-threatening even if it turns out to be malignant.
