It won't be a problem until you watch it go bouncing down the bleachers and ends up a dented mess of brass and nickle.
Save the good horn for concert use and get an inexpensive Bundy or similar horn for marching. In the end you'll be glad you did.

I marched with a brand spanking new Mark VI in 1967 through college, ending in 1974. As I said in an earlier post in this thread, I wish I could have kept my Bundy 1 (1964 model) to march with, but my mother paid $300 for it in 1964 and she got $250 back on it when I traded up to my VI. We couldn't afford to keep it at the time.

I suspect that there are still a few school music departments with some great old saxophones. My baritone spent some time in the NYC public school system.
