With a Legere reed on my SS Berg I can look through and see the outline of the window — which ends before the vamp on the reed. In other words, the shoulder of the reed ends up further back on the table than on other mouthpieces. The distance from the back of the window to the tip measures about 1½", at least an eighth of an inch less than any of the other mouthpieces I've measured, including two HR Bergs.

I'd be interested to hear if any other SS Bergs have this shorter window opening and whether people feel it affects the sound quality. Does it essentially create a smaller chamber?
