Born 80 years ago today, everyone's favorite violinist/trumpeter, Ornette Coleman!

I *love* his music and his playing, but his liner notes to "Dancing In Your Head" still give me a headache.

Happy Birthday, Ornette! I saw you in the summer of 2008 at the Chicago Jazz Fest, and it was the biggest crowd I've ever seen there over the years. Love that white alto!

A great day for jazz history! He sure has some wacky playing though, not for everyone .

I really like Space Jungle by him. Interesting tunes.
