Hi,

I wonder if there is an android based tuner app that also gives you audible feedback.
Most tuners give you a visual feedback, the needle that goes up and down when you play flat or sharp.
It would be interesting to have an app that also detects the note you play, and plays it in the correct pitch, so you can correct your pitch also by ear.
I think this would be useful to practice listening by ear, and blending in with others.

Or you can just put your electronic keyboard in "organ" mode and tape down the specific key. Instant drone!

I quickly tested DA tuner, but it is nearly inaudible, they also ask a high yearly fee and seem to want to charge you to buy all kinds of extras, so I did not trust it to give them my credit card data.
Total energy does not seem to have a preview function, so not possible to test it before buying.

Even my free 'Sound Corset' tuner app will play the notes if you want. It also has many other functions, like a metronome, recording, etc. I would be lost without this thing on my gigs. Having an effective tuner has solved several problems for me and I believe it is making my pitch sensitivity more acute. Playing with all kinds of musicians at high volume levels for 60 years will kind of dull your sensitivity to pitch. I am very glad that this is apparently something that is not permanent!

I am using sound corset at this moment, and it is great.

The only thing it is missing for me is the capability to play back the note you are playing on the saxophone, in the correct pitch, so you can adjust it with your embouchure while playing.
What I mean is, suppose you play a middle E, which is a little flat, the device should detect that you are playing middle E, and play it back just in tune, so you are able to hear the difference
with what you play yourself and what the tuner is playing back
So the aim is to first tune the saxophone correctly on one note, and then start playing scales and arpeggios and hear and at the same time correct your embouchure to be perfectly in tune with the note comming from the tuner.

There are some vocal effect boxes that correct the pitch of a singer, and some singers even use this feature as a special effect

Here you hear the result when to tones are not in tune.

If you practice with a drone, you'll also train yourself to hear when you're out of tune.

If you're playing scales and arpeggios, doing this while using an electronic keyboard to provide a relevant chord is very helpful. (My Yamaha keyboard allows you to start a rhythm pattern which I use as if it were a metronome; then if you key in a chord with your left hand, you get the thing playing along with the chord you keyed in, plus at the indicated rhythm and tempo. So if I'm practicing C maj/A nat min, I'll key in an A minor chord, and so on.) If your keyboard doesn't have this capability, you just tape down the notes A, C, E and there you have your A minor chord drone for as long as you can stand it.

I agree that for $9.99 per year the DaTuner is pricey, which is why I started using TE Tuner. It does everything that you are asking for a $3.99 one time purchase. For me this was a pretty cheap option. It also keeps track of rewards you with a nice green happy face when you have practiced multiple days in a row and the happy face also appears when you play a note and are in tune.

The "sound" option will playback the note tone you want in multiple octaves with the option to sustain the note, even transpose for the instrument you are playing.

anyway.....it has loads of functionality for $4 bucks.

Actually DA Tuner now costs 15.99 per year, and when you try to use some features, an in app buy screen appears asking for more money.

I'll give TE tuner a go and see how it works, thanks for the tips.
