Using Plasticovers for the better part of a year now, and must say they are excellent. An excellent product and likely will never go back to cane - on a fulltime basis that is.

I played on a cane reed all day today, and I must say, there's no substitute for that sound. Cane reeds sound THE best; no argument. I'll be treating myself more often I think from here on.

Why not just use cane all the time, then???

The move to play plastic it just seems so drastic, they're fuzzy and buzzy and dull. When blowing good cane it wakens a flame and the soul of the player is glowing. Good wood when you have it is a gift from on high, that no plastic will n'ere come nigh.

A good synthetic reed has its' uses. But the best synthetic reed ever made still won't equal a good cane reed.

Cane Reeds

I think that I shall not attain
A reed as good as one from cane.

A reed with natural fibers pressed
Against a mouthpiece table breast;

A reed that plays sweet tones all day,
Expressing all I want to say;

A reed that may wear out with use,
But while alive is strong like Zeus;

Upon whose tip my lip has lain,
Though causing not an ounce of pain.

Plastic's made in man's domain,
But only God can make good cane.

I'm too much of a purist to use anything BUT naked cane.

I'm gonna play a wet naked cane again today (sounds right sexy it does)

I'm still using Plasticovers as a general rule though 'cause they are very good as I stated earlier, and they last and last and last.....

Got wood?!?

I do like to have a playable synthetic reed on hand (no soaking, can be good back-up), but for me the cane reeds have a lot more flexibility in terms of color and shading, etc.

Fuzzy Wuzzy wuz a bear, right, or "wuzzy" a reed? :alien: :albino: :mrgreen:

But seriously, I haven't met a synthetic I like but haven't tried them all. Some players sound great on them.

I guess I just like a little taste of the earth in my mouth.
