At least you have a great taste in music. Peter Beets website is in english(http://www.peterbeets.nl/index.php?pagina=28) and so is part of simon rigters btw(http://www.simonrigter.com/live/Thanks for the tips. I'm not particularly bothered about seeing big names. It would be nice to hear some of the top local guys. Peter Beets or Simon Rigter or players in that bop/straight ahead vein.
Which shop is best for vintage horns? Thanks again.
I just spoke with friends in A'dam, and the Cafe Alto is still very much happening. Saxophonist Hans Dulfer (Candy's dad) is on hand every Wednesday night, and there is music every night. Is the Cafe Alto still operating near the Leidseplein?
Stopped there one night about 2 am, and the band was great.
On piano was David Berkman.
It's summer, so sessions may have a summer stop. Many of the foreign students will return home. However, next weekend is the North Sea Jazz Festival (in Rotterdam) so there's lots of jazz happening there, not just at the venue but also in the city itself. http://www.northsearoundtown.com/programma.phpI'm in Amsterdam next wednesday to friday if anybody has any other recommendations.
Anybody know any jam sessions?? Although I can't decide whether to take my horn or not. I hear there is a great jazz music college in Amsterdam. Where do the students play?
