- S80s are highly individual mouthpieces, but I prefer my AL3 over any one I've tried.

- Theyre roughly the same in tonal bightness, but the AL3 has more healthy overtones. In comparison, the Selmer plays "sterile". Some would find the Selmer more "centered". Also response is more even on the AL3, especially up top.

- The AL3 will respond easier, but I'd recommend considering the individual's natural tendencies. A student of mine naturally plays dark and spread, the Selmer seemed to compensate for that and add focus. Another one of mine plays too centered, and the AL3 balances that. For consistency from mouthpiece to mouthpiece, the AL3 wins.
