Hello, I'd be curious what mouthpieces you use for alto clarinet (Boehm/French system)
For Jazz?
For Classic?

I use the Grabner. I like it, but I haven't tried a Fobes. I would ideally like something a little more open and free blowing. Here is an audio example in a jazz setting.

Very nice. It sounds very clarinet in the higher register... that's probably due to not being so open and free blowing... it really has it's own quality. Which alto clarinet are you using?

Thanks. I am using a Yamaha 631 alto clarinet. I've never had the chance to try another model, so I can't say how it compares.

I do enjoy Ulrich Drechsler's music. He did some albums playing basset horn, which is very similar to alto clarinet.

I used a Vandoren B40 for classical music and I liked it, it was easy to control (but I also had the same mouthpiece for my Bb clarinet at that time).

I tried the Vandoren B40 and the B45 and much prefer the B45. I play a Bb clarinet.
