These players have very little in common other than playing saxophone and having first names starting with A. Oddly enough, both will be playing in the California South Bay area on Monday Sept. 23. Lawrence at the Tabard Theater San Jose to celebrate Trane's birthday. Au at West Valley College in Saratoga with her quartet.

Anyway, has anyone caught either or both of these players and can suggest which concert to attend?

I saw Azar many years ago with Elvin Jones. A strong player at the time, I've not kept up with his recent work but he was a Coltrane inspired player who could really stretch out.
A don't know anything of the other player.
