This thread us for both lessons learned (advice) and entertainment. Share your favorite story of a ridiculous asking price, idiotic trade offer, bottom feeder lowball, etc.

I'll start - we've all seen the $125K SBA asking price, so I'll skip that one. I had an unsolicited trade offer of a later model beat up Buffet SDA for my 1952 Selmer SBA. I know it never hurts to ask, but come on!

Heres one. A guy here on SOTW was selling his Mk 6 tenor. I didn't need another tenor because I liked my The Martin but I wanted to help him so I asked his reserve. It was 2600. I told him I'd get him over the reserve. So the next day I owned my Mk6 for 2601 dollars. I didn't force him to sell it to me and offered to back out but he said take it so I did. Best bargain I ever got was a 30 dollar Buffet Clarinet before pawn shops checked that stuff out. I resold the week after for 300 K
