I have a Buescher Baritone Aristocrat #399444. It has "S-40" under the serial number. I last played it in high school in 1976. Can anyone tell me if this is worth much. It has some small dings and the bottom has a dent. Seems all the serial number guides jump from 381 to 408. Thanks for any information.

I had a rear-bell-key (400 style) bari with Aristocrat engraving, SN 358xxx, that I sold maybe three years ago. It had a few dents, a scrape or two, but the lacquer was excellent. Sold it locally for about $1300, as I recall.

I doubt they changed much between 358 and 399. Same parts, same workers.
(I should also have mentioned the pads were good and it was in adjustment.)

Would it pay to have it checked out and cleaned up?
Do you know anyone good in New Jersey, Burlington County?
