Assemble your MP with reed onto neck.
Blow an easy fundamental tone.
Slowly put your forefinger in the neck opening while you are blowing, insert and withdraw, like a slide whistle.

BUT FIRST: make a prediction. What will happen to pitch as you insert your finger further into the neck bore?

Did your prediction match your result?

(Aside--can you feel the pressure wave inside the horn with the tip of your finger, and how the pressure varies as your finger changes position?)

This is actually a decent tone building exercise. Much easier on the ears than playing the mouthpiece alone.
