I'm about to launch into my Masters study on the classical sax within chamber music and was wondering if anyone has ANY recommendations in terms of academic literature? Articles, thesis, studies, reports - I'll take anything at this stage!

Also if anyone has attempted a similar focus of study at this level I'd love to hear from you!

Don't forget the Cambridge Companion to the Saxophone and Umble's: Jean-MArie Londeix 'Master of the Modern Saxophone'.
Both these texts are great starting points for further research. But definitely look for thesis online as there are plenty of applicable ones.

-Back issues of the Symposium are a good resource.
-Laurence Wyman's dissertation on saxophone mouthpiece acoustics.

Another good idea is to browse the bookshelf in your teacher's office.

My professor thought I should read it while Dr. Wyman was refacing my alto mouthpiece. Definitely a good read!
And I also second the browsing of your teacher's bookshelf (with permission of course ;))
