Soundwise I like a dark cavernous tone, I don't want to sound like a low tenor.
But regarding the phrasing you could be right, I've listened and studied tenor players a lot, especially in the past.
I've been listening especially to trupet players for three months, Fats Navarro, Lee Morgan and Art Farmer! I listen to different music too, classical and other genres, but I consider myself a bebop blue note man.
