Anyone know the story of Thad Jones' composition, "A Child Is Born"? That's a lovely tune, and I especially like it 'cause I have a new baby in the house (7 mo. old already). A reviewer on Amazon of the Thad Jones-Mel Lewis album Consummation says it was dedicated to his daughter. (Maybe that is the whole story, huh?) Just wondered if anyone knows more about the origins of the tune. And who wrote the lyrics?

I always thought, "a child is born" is a christmas song.
