I recently got a 6M and I cannot for the life of me find the right position of my left thumb NOT to get a lot of pain.
Feels like I am putting way too much pressure on it to hold the sax where I think I need it.
The pearl is small and fairly rounded off and finding a spot for my thumb that works with the octave key properly and not be in pain seems to be an issue.

Any suggestions?

Seriously, you need to get the sax hanging in the right place so you do not need to push like that with the thumb on either hand.

You should be relaxed.
well, that is what i am asking I guess, is there something different about how these hand vs. other altos?
Was also thinking to build up the thumbrest just a bit with Sugru

The 6m thumbrests are not at all comfy. At all.

But my 6m altos are as comfy as my Yany altos, or anything. To me, etc.
Use the Sugru. Try a different neck strap. Play it in front instead of on the side.

Make it work, eh?
