Very cool.

Congrats to her for carrying the classical saxophone banner high!

I met a teenage girl from Scotland after one of my quartet's performances. She told me that she was a tenor player of a few years but had never considered or heard of classical saxophone. She said that, upon her return to school in Scotland, she was going to press her teacher to start a quartet.

Kudos to your daughter and you!

This is great news! Congrats to your daughter (and her parents who obviously had some role in shaping her!)

Martinman,She has been playing since 3rd grade;her sister who is in 3rd grade has been playing since kindergarten. Her sister plays soprano(a curved yani Sc-991)and alto(a yani A-901).We have a saxtrio. We mostly use alto tenor and baritone(me). We have used sat, ssa, aaa, and aab. I like atb best. The 5th grader also plays alto(a cannonball big bell a1e). They use good equipment cause I play and know how much a good sax can help a beginner.

It's great that they got started so early. I didn't start until 5th grade.

Congrats to her!

And I started when I was in 5th grade too...my kids are going to start earlier. (Don't tell my wife though. She wants a pianist and violinist...)

Most Kids start in 5th or 6th, when the local band programs start. Ive had a couple students start as early as 3rd grade though, and do tremendous jobs.

When I have kids, they will start whenever they have an interest, on whatever they have an interest in. (if that means trombone in second grade, I'll find a way to make that work!!)
