Hello dear Saxfellows from New York,
I'm looking foreward to visti NY with my wife and our 18 years old daughter in the beginning of march (in fact it's our first trip to the US). This is a family trip, so no extensive Jazzclub hopping or "playing every horn I can get my hands on".
What would you recommend? Great places and venues we should visit? Interesting concerts or shows (perhaps your own?)
Thank you very much for your tips and hints!

Fat Cat jazz bar in Greenwich Village. They feature live music, and attract crowds of millennial regulars playing pool, ping pong, and shuffleboard, for almost no cover charge. Something for the whole family.

If you like Swing Music

plays Tuesday evenings at Swing 46.

The bandleader is a native New Yorker; it's an iconic NYC show.
The venue is adjacent to the theater district, so if you plan on catching a Broadway show, Swing 46 is a quick walk after the play.
In one of the intermissions they have a dance group who does a free introductory swing dance lesson. Anyone can come up and join. For me it was a really fun interlude to a good show and a good chance to socialize with other people.

Thank you - these clubs sound really fun for our family! I'm no dancer (I guess that's why I choose to become a musician), but found swing dancing very nice!

One more question: Our oldest is adult with her 18 years in germany. I've heared that going to pubs etc. could be a problem in the US. Is this true, even in the company of both parents?
