Hey SotW. Long story short, I am potentially in the market for a bari - I will probably at least try to hunt a couple Mauriats down regardless, but I'm curious what people's opinions are of the 300 and especially the 302 bari.

I know the altos and tenors reputedly take some pages out of Conn's book. Do the baris have similar playing characteristics?

I have a Phil Barone labeled Low Bb bari that's likely from the same factory as the Mauriats. Mine is about 10 years old now so I suspect some changes have been made- TIFWIW. Mine is more like a bigger, brighter Mark VI than a Conn.

Those 302 baris are difficult to find to try as very few shops stock them. They're also grossly overpriced IMO. It's unfortunate P. Mauriat used to be like Hyundai - "horns that make sense" but now, for me anyway, they've become "horns you buy used at half price". If you have $6k+ to drop on a Low Bb bari I'd buy this one;
