Hi all,

I recently acquired two new mouthpieces: a Barone Rock/Fushion 9* (high baffle piece) and a current Otto Link NY 11 (custom made in 2003). Recorded them after some short play-testing in a simple Blues, just to compare the sound. As a reference I recorded also my current main piece (Otto Link Florida no USA 10*) on the same setting (Selmer SBA and a La Voz medium reed).

Here are the links to the SoundClick takes, in case you would like to compare the differences in sound:
http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=10326802 (C. Barone Rock/Fushion 9*)
http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=10326861 (D. Otto Link STM NY 11)
http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=10326967 (E. Otto Link Florida no USA 10*)

Please don't bother about the playing, I'm far from being a pro! This is just for fun and sound comparison, not more.

I will stick to my current main piece (Florida no USA 10*), with the NY 11 as a very good alternative. The high baffle Barone MPC is not really my piece of cake.

Peter.

Re: 3-mouthpiece Soundclip Comparison - Barone Fushion 9* / Link STM NY 11 / Link Florida no USA 1

I like your playing and your voice is what predomonates, of course. The two Links sound very close to me, with the STM getting the slight (very) edge for no particular reason whatsoever.

Peter--

I think you sound best on the 10*. You sound like you feel most comfortable with it...You got a good solid tenor sound...husky yet focused, in-tune, edgy and full of overtones...keep jammmin dude!

seemed like the 10* is a little better for you. you like really open pieces? Intonation was the best on that one I thought.

Indeed I like big tips JD. I play also sometimes smaller tips, but altissimo and volume is an issue when pushed (I play often in a loud band without mike and I want to be heared!). Thanks for you reaction.
