Hey Everyone,

I just got two of Mark's new metal pieces in my shop, and the first one that I've spent time with is the Robusto. It's in a 7** tip opening.

My first impressions:

- This piece is really flexible! I was able to get pretty dark and soft, but when I pushed it, it could really scream. Lately, I've been playing bigger tip openings, but this didn't seem to be much of a problem after playing for 5-10 minutes.
- Really comfortable! I don't really play metal pieces these days, but again, this one was easy to settle into, and it was very smooth jumping in large intervals, and easy to play in altissimo, and controlled down low.
- Beautiful construction. Really beautiful work and everything looked perfect.

I've had a few other people passing through the shop give it a try, and the feedback has been really positive! Great all-around piece that's fun to play.

Here's a quick clip I shot after the first 10 minutes getting used to it. Used a LaVoz medium reed and a Vandoren Optimum lig.

You sound awesome on that one! I recently received a metal Robusto 7* and I really love it, sings beautifully and is very versatile.

It's sharing the top spot for me at the moment with a Phil-Tone Tribute Ltd. Both are amazing pieces and I don't really want to choose :)

Btw, I'm sure Mark will chime in but I believe Matt Marantz isn't involved.

Thank you, guys!
Matt is not doing any of my pieces. They same craftsman I have been using, is doing all of my models in HR, Ultem, and Metal.

So glad you are loving the metals! They will be released on the website in the next couple of weeks.

All the best, Mark

Wow, you sound great, Dave! The flexibility sounds astounding. When you're playing softer it sounds rich and full and vibrant, but when you push it has tons of pop and presence. Seemed like you were able to transition registers easily and the piece sounded great whether you were holding back or really pushing.

Matt is not doing any of my metal pieces. Initially he was going to, but we realized as the orders came in, that it wasn't going to work because of the amount of orders I get along with how busy he is with his own pieces and gigging, and all of that. We were hoping it was going to work for both of us, but we realized after going through the numbers, that we would never be able to keep on top of the orders in a timely fashion.
The pictures I have put up last month of the mouthpieces, were all done by the same guy that does all of my other mouthpieces. I'll post some more here for you guys to see.
I have sold a bunch of these metals already, but nothing through the website, because they aren't up there yet. My web guy is in the midst of redoing everything there. Hopefully pictures will be up in the next couple of weeks on the website. People can still order through me as they have been doing, but there's nothing up on the site showing that they exist yet. We have a lot of stuff to redo at the website because of all the new products coming out, so it's all a work in progress. Same with the orange Ultem pieces. I have sold hundreds and hundreds of those and they aren't up on the website yet.
All of that is being worked on as we speak. It just takes a while to get the website redone, and its being worked on of that as we speak.

Here are some pictures of the pieces.
