  1. Soprano, Bass and Misc. mpc
Hello, I´ve got this Selmer Soloist E Bass Saxophone mouthpiece in great shape that will be put for sale but I am trying to determine a price. According to my research soloist mouthpieces were included with Mark VI bass saxophones (but not sure if with this tip opening) but have not found...
  2. Sax vs. Sax, Mpc vs. Mpc, etc.
Does anybody have experience with these 2 mouthpieces, Mouthpiece Cafe Espresso and Aizen SO. They are both inspired by the Selmer Soloist. I own the Aizen SO but in some conditions, I find the sound a little bit too thin. Does the Espresso sound fuller?
  3. General Mouthpiece Discussion
I am a newbie to the saxophone, still looking for my first instrument. While browsing for-sale ads, I saw many vintage Selmer Soloist mouthpieces selling for very high prices (several times higher than new Selmer money uthpieces). Are the vintage ones much better than the new ones?
  4. Alto mpc
Got the guy to bring it down to $200, is this a good price for it in this condition? Will be sending it to Phil tone to be worked on. https://www.ebay.com/itm/272473077626
  5. Soprano, Bass and Misc. mpc
Hey all, I'm a tenor and alto player currently working on a masters in jazz studies after getting a bachelors in Music Education and classical saxophone, and was looking to start studying the soprano more seriously and regularly. I figured that before I embark on finding a horn that I like I...
  6. High School and College
After less than a week after switching from her beloved Selmer Ref.54 Kookaburra to a Conn 26M with the NY neck Amanda won an award for outstanding musicianship at the Reno Jazz Festival for her performance of 'Georgia on My Mind'. Hope you enjoy!!
  7. General Mouthpiece Discussion
Recently I acquired a Selmer Soloist D for tenor, and I am absolutely in love with it. It feels really comfortable for me in both jazz and symphonic settings, whereas I used to switch between a Link STM 7* and an s80 C*. I'm looking to make a similar move for a soloist alto mouthpiece, but I am...
  8. General Mouthpiece Discussion
There are heaps of mouthpieces modeled on the vintage Meyers but are there any modeled on the other classic, the soloist? I predominantly play Alto on a vintage soloist with a .82 opening and I absolutely love the dark sound with edge, that it manages to get. Many people say this is the really...
  9. Alto mpc
Hello all, I am somewhat stumped by one of my mouthpieces. I believe it to be a soloist-style model, but it is a short shank with no pattern on the band. Here it is compared to a long shank soloist. Any help would be much appreciated!
  10. Sax vs. Sax, Mpc vs. Mpc, etc.
Which is better, the S80 C* of the Soloist C* and why? What are the differences? I play alto. Thanks.
  11. Sax vs. Sax, Mpc vs. Mpc, etc.
Hi I have bought this piece a few months ago, but I have to trade it in, since I have a horn with a tendency to play sharp and this mouthpiece does not help. Same problem as Henderson with his Selemer Soloist, almost out of the cork. If you own a Selmer, Yanagisawa, Yamaha or any modern like...
  12. Tenor mpc
I have a Selmer Soloist C* Long Shank mouthpiece that came with my Mk VI tenor. I used it when I played classical tenor, but I haven't used it for quite a few years. Would you guys mind taking a look at the pictures and giving me a ballpark of what it's worth and if this is one of the more...
  13. Martin
Hi everyone! I'm an alto player, trying to find a mouthpiece that would match my '46 The Martin tenor. I have an old Short Shank Soloist opened up to .090". I like the sound with that mpc, but I feel somehow that it may not be the optimal mpc for that horn. I have never tried a slant link or new...
  14. Alto mpc
Hey all, playing on a modern selmer soloist E facing alto piece, loving it, but feels like it could be improved. Would opening a mouthpiece produce a clearer sound? What exactly does and can a mouthpiece refacer do? I am debating whether I should find one such mouthpiece refacer, or simply look...

I just had to share my enthusiasm somewhere it can be appreciated. Since my mother was skeptical about my purchase being so tarnished looking. This Past Friday I went to a preacher's house because I heard he had a tenor for $75. It had all the lacquer stripped with Brasso because his mother told...
