  1. Music Venues Around the World
Hi all, Now that things are opening back up, where are folks going to hear and perform jazz in NYC? Now that Smalls realized they can charge $50 a set I don’t see them going back to a $10/$20 door cover… I believe Fat Cat is closed now and the Standard doesn’t have anything on the books yet.

Happy (almost) New Year! Here's a video featuring the Boardwalk Jazz Band playing the classic "Auld Lang Syne" live at the Triad Theater in New York City. This features Cassandra Kubinski on vocals and Hiruy (Henry) Tirfe on tenor saxophone. I hope you dig it, and have a great start to the new year!

Hey everyone! Here's a video of a brand new tune of mine, called "Finally." I think the name really fits, as my mom has been on my case about writing her a tune forever now (I have tunes for my wife, dad, and even couple friends...doh). This is from a gig last night at Club Bonafide in NYC. It...

Hey everyone! Here's a recording from a recent gig at Cornelia St. Café (NYC). Recorder is right in front of me, so that's why the balance is jacked up. (If you've ever played there you know the space) It's a tune my buddy wrote called "A Glimmer of What's to Come." Recording starts on my solo...

I had a day off in the city and had been wanting to try the Ishimori Woodstone tenor mouthpiece, so I went to Roberto's on a lark. I was a little skeptical as the prices in their Mark VI room are the stuff of legend. I walked in and was greeted by a very friendly young man who set me up in a...

  13. Sax Repair, Maintenance and Modification
Hi all ... I'm new to the forum but based on some posts and searches, I had some questions I hope someone can weigh in on: I have an early 50's Selmer SBA (matching 49,xxx s/n) that belonged to my grandfather. I used to play a little clarinet and sax when I was in my teens. I'll probably never...
