Now this is a Dukoff that has obviously had some work done to it… but for the life of me I have no idea what (apart from someone who’s clearly done a very good reface because it’s one of the most responsive pieces I’ve ever played!) Don’t get me wrong, it’s absolutely brilliant, and out of all...

I recently came across this tenor MP that came with a used tenor I bought. I can't for the life of me figure out what it is. Any ideas?
  3. Mouthpiece Maintenance, Modification & Refacing
Hello, I've recently gotten into an argument regarding mouthpiece swabbing. Apparently, swabbing your mouthpiece before putting it away causes the inside the mouthpiece to slowly erode away and that might damage it. Has anyone heard of this? Added a poll just to see the results.
  4. Alto mpc
Hello, I bought a 1926 Buescher True Tone alto sax on eBay and I received it today. The listing said it comes with the original mouthpiece, but it doesn't look like I expected it to. It doesn't have a shank at all. After google searches and looking for mouthpieces for sale, I couldn't find any...

I came up with this idea as a easy way to hold mouthpieces. You can buy different embroidery thread rack or cases on Amazon and use a Nerf type dart over the pegs. It holds the mouthpiece in place fine. I tried the thicker darts and they don't work. For Alto's\Soprano's just trim the dart...

Hi, I have been playing alto for awhile and have been playing on a s80 c* (older model) I have been entering the realm of jazz recently and i love it. I really want to get a ‘jazz’ mouthpiece. I am really stuck in a tough decision between the daddario select jazz, meyer usa, meyer ny 100th...
  8. What to Buy & Why: Mouthpieces
So, life long Link player here. My current piece is a GS 7* Reso. But, for my main gig, I really need something that sounds like a Berg. Ideally it would have the same size and shape as my Link, but that aggressiveness and grit of the Berg (think Sam Butera/Jr. Walker). Any thoughts about where...
  9. General Mouthpiece Discussion
Since commercially available 3D printed mouthpiece have become quite popular over the last few years, I think it's important to discuss how safe they are to use. The manufacturers gladly dismiss this topic by stating they only use materials that are certified as food safe. But the thing is, due...

As I have started to teach beginning private lessons (most of my previous lesson students when I was in college/gigging were adults learning or high school students), I have noticed that basically every student has the same mouthpiece- a Yamaha 4C. I guess about 15 years ago when I started...

I’m looking for someone to help me identify the rough age of an older Tone Edge Tenor piece that I have. I’m aware that the straight sig. pieces were made first in Florida and then Indiana, from various moulds, and finished with differing baffles - and that the evolution of Tone Edges wasn’t...
