Hi! I have mainly been using Legere American Cut reeds, they have been awesome. But they don't last as long as I expected them to and the strength hasn't been very consistent. I play about 2,5 hours a week, I don't have much time right now. But even though I don't play that much, the Legere...

I've been using Legere synthetic for both alto and tenor. The Legere reeds are thinner than cane reeds so I find I need to close up the ligature really tight to keep the reed from moving easily. Recently, I've noticed that the ligature has no space between the two sides where the screws close...

So, I’m experimenting with Legeres right now. I ordered a strength 3.5 Legere Signature alto saxophone reed online. When it arrived, I experimented with it for a few days, and came to the conclusion that it was too soft for me. It had a lot of buzz, and was very free-blowing. I was about to...

Hey guys! So I've recently bought a V16 B7 mouthpiece to play for jazz/funk stuff and I tried using my Bari (the brand) synthetic reeds on it and I just can't get a good sound at all with those. They seem to work fine on my Selmer S80 C* though. I'm thinking of switching to Legere or...

Has anyone tried both of these on bass clarinet? If so, could you tell me how they compare? I'm currently playing on a tenor sax Legere Signature 2.75 (that I've been playing since March) and I'm looking to get a backup. I've tried a number of different types of cane reeds on bass clarinet...

After playing cane reeds since I started playing Alto Sax in 5th grade, I purchased a synthetic reed for the first time earlier this year. Bought a Legere Studio Cut. I have used it almost exclusively since I purchased it in the early summer. Lately it has been smelling a little funky. Does...

Does anybody here have experience with the Forestone White Bamboo reeds? I could only find one review on this forum from a classical player. It seems that he had a positive experience with those reeds. I am looking for sound clips if possible. I am currently using Legere Signature and Forestone...

Hi SOTWF friends- if you'd like to try the following, they're yours for the asking. I'll even pay shipping in the US/Canada- I just don't like to see anything wasted. Signature 2, and two Studio 1 3/4 Tenor reeds. Brand new and sterilized in protective plastic (Fibracell) cases. I like Légère...

Hello, I wil be playing in a version of the adams family musical in september. In the arrangement i need to play clarinet, tenor, alto and soprano sax. I normaly play all these instruments with Vandoren Blue box reeds. I never played four instruments in one show before. I'm afraid i will have...

Any good? I use the legere SS on alto, but on baritone i played rico royals and vandoren traditionals, to me at least synthetics are WAY better, cane never bothered me on baritone, but i've heard the baritone reeds on legere aren't as good as the others.
  12. What to Buy & Why: Reeds and Misc.
Hi, I got my Legere Reed 2 days ago. It's a Classic Series 2.25 for alto sax. I'm a beginner: I started to play about 4 months ago and I've been playing on a Rico 2.5 cane reed and a Yamaha 4C mouthpiece. I tried to play using my brand new Legere, but I find much more easier to play with the...

Hi all, I recently bought a Legere Signature in 2.5 for tenor. Not a huge fan. I found it to be stuffy, and felt too soft. I could not play loudly on it. I normally play on Vandoren V16s in 3, which feel fantastic about 1/5 times. So my question is, should I get a Legere Signature in a harder...

Hey, So for marching band, I've been using Vandoren Java 3.5s with my plastic Brilhart Ebolin 4*. I'm happy with the Java's performance, but the weather is messing with my reed, and people keep breaking it (by hitting it, etc). A senior advised I get a synthetic or plastic reed, so I decided...

Hi everyone, INTRO: I play a Cannonbal Big Bell Global series with a Fat Neck. This gives me quite an open tone. But here`s the "problem" I play in a sort of a brass band, and sometimes i`m up against 7 trumpets and 3 trombones. I`m not completely alone but my fellow sax players cant play...

Hello saxontheweb, Just recently bought myself a used Keilwerth tenor, and discovered a few goodies in the case, some really high end reeds. These are what I found: Vandoren 3 Vandoren V16 Legere 3 (Synthetic, clear) On my regular Rico reed, the tone on my sax is very strong, deep, and full...
