I have one question. Does it make sense or is it even possible to put lacquer over the patina?
In case I have an unlacquered sax and want it to be dark lacquer (rather very dark brown/dark grey than black).
I like silver plated saxes but it is a bit of headache from what I know thus I...
I am currently looking for a new Tenor mouthpiece, and came across the Ambika in some video.
Its kinda awesome... Anyone have their own personal experience with this particular piece? You prefer the metal or the H
Mostly, people are more interested with the Durga... I really wonder why..
Hi everyone. Recently I bought a 1920 buescher tt curved soprano, and I was looking at mouthpieces. There are a lot of options, so I was wondering if I could get any recommendations on a large round chambered hr mouthpiece. Something dark and full but with some punch.
I've been using metal pieces for a while, mostly in large tips (10*) and it feels good but I'm interested in trying out a dark, hard rubber, large chamber piece that is (ideally) affordable.
I've been VERY curious to maybe pick up a Drake Bergonzi 10* or a Son of Slant Large Chamber in the...
I'm searching since a few month the perfect mouthpiece for me. I want a very focused and centered sound but very dark and cavernous with a lot of grain.
Anyone have advice to find the perfect mouthpiece?
I just ordered one from the recommendations of my teacher and I
would like some opinions on them
Is it more on the darker side?
Is it reed friendly? If its not, which reeds worked well for you?
How is resistance? I'm playing a link atm and too free blowing feels odd to me
Also, does it come...
I've been looking for a darker tone for classic solos for a while now but can't seem to find a good setup for my liking's. My setup is as follows:
Selmer Paris Soloist D Facing Mouthpiece
Hemke 3 reeds
A ligature I've had since 6th grade (I'm a junior in High school now)
I am a high school tenor player using a Yani 991, if that matters.
My two main mouthpieces are a Selmer C*, for classical, and a yani HR 5, for jazz. On both I use a Java green box 3.5. Yes, i know those are really jazz reeds, but i don't play much classical sax (hence saxOONIST).
I am searching for a new ligature to replace my rovner dark, and ijust wanted everyones opinion on any "dark" ligs that are worth buying. if you can think of any good dark ligatures, please help me out
I'm in High School and I've been trying to make my tone brighter than my usual sound, which is naturally very dark according to many of my peers. I even got a Jumbo Java A45 to brighten my tone. I don't know if it's just me, but for some reason, I can't seem to get a bright tone, even on the...
I was wondering your opinions and experiences with the modern plastic Brilhart Ebolins. How would you describe the way they alter your sound? They seem like reasonably neutral mouthpieces, but do they lean toward making you sound a bit brighter or darker?
Thanks guys. I've been...
Lately I've been searching for a new alto mouthpiece and I need your help!
I'm looking for a jazz mouthpiece that is not too bright... something more neutral that I can use for a long time.
I'm trying to find something that I can just play for the rest of my life (like Phil...
Hello to all!
I know there are similar threads like this out there but none of them say it how I wish to. Currently I am using my Rovner Dark for all playing, but recently I have seen many posts talking about how the Rovner Dark deadens the sound. I have never really thought about ligatures...
