  1. C Melody Soprano, Contralto & Tenor
I got these both on Shopgoodwill auctions. They came from opposite sides of the country the one on the left from California and the other from Georgia and both are from 1923. Both have been painted and I am having a hard time getting rods out of the one on the left. I learned that there is a...

Got this sax from my uncle. He found it at a garage sale so I don’t know the history. I think it is a C melody but I’m not a 100% sure about this. It’s in mediocre condition, in need of a cleaning and work on the octave key. Would love to know when about it was made, that type it is, and it’s worth.
  3. Sax Repair, Maintenance and Modification
I was given this sax as a gift from a friend many years ago. I've always been intrigued, but haven't been able to find much about it, research wise. I don't expect it to be incredibly valuable, but was wondering what the costs of fixing it up might be and if it might be worth it. Here's the...
  4. C Melody Soprano, Contralto & Tenor
A couple of days ago I published an article on my site that is the brainchild of a wonderful guest author. Raymond F. Kretz has a fantastic personal collection of C melody saxophones, and a unbounding curiosity of the intricacies and variations seen in vintage saxophones, as well as the...

Hey everyone! Back with a new video. I don't see a lot of videos of people playing C Melody Sax, let alone videos of people playing bebop on it, so here you go! Let me know what you think, and enjoy!

Hey everyone! Back with another C Melody Sax video. A bunch of people have requested to hear a ballad on this instrument, so here it is! One of the most beautiful of all time - "My One and Only Love." Let me know what you think, and if you have other song ideas let me know!

  8. Sax Repair, Maintenance and Modification
I've started fixing my 100 year old Buescher C Melody, and I've ran into a bit of trouble. Most of the keys have been removed, but all of the main keys, along with a few side keys, and the screw for the octave key on the neck are stuck. I've used a ton of WD40 and WD40 rust removal, and although...
  9. Buescher
Hi everyone, I am going to cut to the chase. I recently purchased an antique Buescher C Melody Stencil which I am going to overhaul by myself. I believe it is nearly identical to the True Tone (I will try to attach some images that lead me to believe this), but I have had trouble finding a lot...
  10. C Melody Soprano, Contralto & Tenor
Why does my, new to me, Buescher True Tone C-Mel, 129XXX, quack like a duck through the lower register? This is my first sax with snap in pads, do the snaps rattle? I leak tested it, all tight. Playing with a Yana #7 metal tenor MP that sounds great on my King Tenor from same era.
  11. C Melody Soprano, Contralto & Tenor
Hi all, I recently came into ownership of a C Melody saxophone with minimal engraving, and I'm hoping for some assistance identifying the manufacturer and any other information I can get. The engraving is limited to the front of the bell, which says "Standard Artist's Model" with some...

Hey guys. I have the neck issue sorted out. Now for the date of my sax. Under the thumb hook, is listed as following: 63759 (Serial Number) Low Pitch License Pat. Dec. 8 1914 Does this help identify the date any? Can Anyone lookup that serial number and tell me what year it is, and if...
  13. C Melody Soprano, Contralto & Tenor
Hey guys, I'm new here :) I have a C Melody Sax, Evette & Schaeffer, with no neck. Can anyone assist me in locating one? Or will other brand C Mel necks fit? I am eager to play this saxophone I had never heard of before. I appreciate anyone's input! Thanks!
  14. C Melody Soprano, Contralto & Tenor
Here is my 1919 Wurlitzer (Buescher stencil) C melody. I disassembled it and polished it all up. Took it to Saul Yanez to overhaul it. Had it done with black roo pads and black felts. It goes real nice with my 1928/29 Buescher alto.
  15. C Melody Soprano, Contralto & Tenor
I'm new here as a contributor, but I've been lurking for awhile. Years ago in a buying frenzy I bought a Gretsch Great American C Melody, and promptly put it in storage when I could only get one note out of it. I've been playing my saxes more lately, and have flipped a few after doing some...
