Hey Buescher buds! I've been happily playing my Big B Tenor for 8 or 9 years now and am still as in love with it as when I first got it. The past five years I have been having this issue where two or three times a year I'll take my horn out to play and G# will not budge- it will be super sludgy...

Here is a great clip showcasing the sound of a pre-war Big B paired with an EB tone edge. I thought I’d post it since you are not likely to come across it on YouTube unless you search for Akihiro Nishiguchi specifically.

Hello Everyone, I have been playing since '89 with a huge hiatus the last 12 years (marriage, kids, career) and am just getting back to playing with all the excitement of a new student. I have always played Selmers. Started with a Bundy II tenor (not really a Selmer) then to a '56 Mark VI alto...

I went to get my Aristocrat big B alto put back into playing order and was told that it wasn't even worth repadding much less the two broken springs and a couple of corks. I had been under the impression that Big B's were very desirable horns and worth much more than the $400 he estimated the...
  5. What to Buy & Why: Saxophones
Hello, I came across a deal for a buescher alto big b and a tenor big b for $1100!. It is an out of state craigslist post so I only have photos and the sellers knowledge. I have uploaded images of each in my albums (new to this site, so please let me know if there is a better way of sharing...

Looks like a 1941 model. Will need to take it in for a check-up, but it was a price I could not pass up.....

I understand the Big Bs are seen as the best of the Aristocrats. Never owned one, but I just picked up my second Series III Aristocrat. I previously had a 1957 and this one dates from 1950. I was impressed with the 1957 and regret having sold it, so I'm looking forward to the 1950. Is the Big B...

I have a question about a saxophone that I just saw on eaby...It is a buescher and the serialnumer is 304XXX wich according to saxgourmet http://www.saxgourmet.com/VINTAGE_SAXOPHONE_VALUE_GUIDE.htm would be a Big B Aristocrat. Is this for sure, was all the saxophones that was made between 290XXX...

Why did I buy that Big B? It sounds exactly like my TT. Don't talk about the keys & built etc. To my untrained ear, there is no tone difference at all (when I use the same neck & mpc for both horns). My TT is 210,xxx and my BigB is 310,xxx. I have been using the TT for a few years.

Hello Folks, Am looking to part with my TH&C original lacquer alto, with 97% lacquer intact. It needs adjustments with almost all gold Nortons, except for 2 steel springs. No dents and straight as a rod. Has the silver Buescher 400 lettering on the bell and the reinforcement ring below the...

I have had for some time now, a Buescher Aristocrat alto that appears to be a Big B horn but the serial is only 4 digits. I suspect that it may be a stencil but everything else seems right. the engraving on the bell, the G# key, roller color, B and Bb key location all seem to ber correct but...
  12. Misc. Saxophone Discussion
Hi Friends! I'm new to the forum, and more importantly, to my newly acquired Big B Buescher Aristocrat. Here is the story, I was at a rehearsal, playing my usual instrument, the drums, when I noticed a sad little alto sitting against the wall. The reed, beyond words, chipped and...
