    I have an Armstrong alto flute s/n #28-38864 which I purchased new in Wash. D.C. in 1979. The doctor recently diagnosed my lip problem as a nickel allergy. After a couple of years, I resented not having a better horn (private resentment as my parents didn't have the dough for another), but in retrospect, I beat the hell outta that horn.     I have a silver-plated, three-piece Armstrong E-flat flute from 1968. It still sounds great, even though the pads are very old. Most people haven't even heard of an E-flat flute. It's a shame for it to sit in the cupboard. I'm not sure what to sell it for, however. I know what similar C flutes...
