Which latest Alto model you're considering has most beautiful Hand-Engraving?

I think that is but unfortunately no idea which brand model. Seem to be a Custom made Yani horn.

Has to be the Guardala Earth Tone, IMHO.

Randall,

I have scan the photo & enlarge it so that I can see it very clear. Seem to be not Guardala because the brand logo is under the bell (Guardala and all other brand are on right side)

I think ther is a mix up...I was saying that I think the Guardala Earth Tone has the most beautiful engraving I have seen, NOT that the sax in the photo is an Earth Tone...sorry about that.

OK, I get your point. If Guardala Earth Tone is not Matt finish, I will agree with you. You know, Hand-Engraving is necessary to match with the body finish. May be it's more perfect if it's rose gold finish (not clean gold larguer).

Have anybody tried a Guardala Earth Tone Alto? How's the sound & keywork?

The Guardala NEW YORK model has engraving all over the horn. Some guy on ebay has one on there now with an NYC scene which includes the Twin Towers.

I'm sorry but, for shear beauty it has to be the solid silver yani. Engraved up to the neck. Unfortunately it costs about a gazillion dollars.

My God! What brand it is? Is it a L.A. Sax straight Alto? Is there traditional shape alto for this brand but gold lacquer finish?

It's a Keilwerth... the finish and engraving is all custom work thru non-Keilwerth people.
Keilwerth has a great selection of finished for their curved horns too.

Alto, the straight altos made by JK, like this one is, are awesome. Until you play one, you haven't played the best altos around. I came within a whisker of buying a really awesome black nickel, still kind of wish I had.

The only altos I've played that can match in any way these straight JKs are as follows:

JK Anniversary alto (after it's been tweaked by Stephan Boesken). A real looker, virtually lacking resistance, huge round tone, big but lighning quick (faster than I am) keywork.

Current production copper-bodied Buffet S3 Prestige. Simply the best looking horn I've ever seen, and the sweetest classical sax voice imaginable. Much more compact keywork than the JK, equally quick, and lighter feel.

I'm hoping my own S1 will be nearly as good after it's been overhauled. I think it has the potential.

There are some horns I haven't played, but with these I've mentioned around, I can't see why I would need to.

MAG the Buffet you mention is in fact, a Keilwerth I think. Look at the posts on it..if they are diamond shaped, then it's a Keilwerth.
BTW had a solid copper JK tenor that was the bomb....

Yeah, I know Randall. It's a French-made Buffet body with JK-made keywork. Awesome horn.

The Yanagisawa A-9937 Solid Sterling Silver Alto is AWESOME! The engraving is extremely nice, but the amazing part is that even the keys are engraved! This horn is a looker as well as a player!

This is a gorgeous horn! I just picked one up myself and I love it. Have to find a home for my Keilwerth SX-90R.

I must agree 3, it is probably the finest playing alto I have ever played in my life...BUT I will reserve that judgement for a couple of more days until my straight alto arrives!
I already think mine has it beat on looks! (IMHO) ;~)

PS: Where is the logo for Keilwerth alto? Right under the bell or right side? Is it a Keilwerth?
