I have put off buying a new alto for quite a while now. I am thinking about buying a VI and waiting for the new horns to come out, but I cannot get the Yani 9330 out of my head. Every since I played one, I've been smitten with it. But they carry a very hefty price tag. So I was wondering if anyone plays the 9330, or has experience with them. If so, please share your feedback.

I play tested them along with everything else and whilst I found the response really easy and even, and the sound very defined and clear, I wasn't excited by it myself. Don't know if you wanted to be encouraged or discouraged, these are just my feelings. I got a Selmer III in flat matte which has a remarkably similar voice to the Ref 54 tenor, which I also bought. I haven't owned a VI so I cannot comment on the relative merits, but it is a great sounding and playing horn and I prefer the look of the flat matte to the Reference 54. It's not expensive, either.

I tried thee 9930 and the 9937 (completely solid silver with complete engraving) at the weekend and also LOVED them both. In fact, they are my reason to become rich one day!
They both played similarly and were unbelievably easy to control and the sound was amazing. I test played alot of other sax brands too but of all of them, the 9930 and 9937 were my favourites, no hesitation. If you love it that much and can afford it then I'd say go for it, you won't regret it. I know someone who bought the tenor version of the 9930 and they love it.
