Default Gebruder Monnig saxophones

Who anybody played on the Gebruder Monnig saxophones?
I have very positive opinion about sound and bad – about keywork.

Some years ago I compared sound Gebruder Monnig “Diamant” (with neck from B&S “blue label” sax) and King Zephyr s/n 176K and have been surprised that the sound of this German was similar (and it was not worse) to the Zephyr sound.

Photo of my "Diamant". Now sax in unworking condition. I sold it approx. in 2000 year and than found and bought this my tenor in 2003 with other pads (with metal resos) and bad condition. Sound with metal resos on old German saxophones is very bad. I think that vintage silver German saxes with thick metal have good sound only with dense pads without any resos.

Serial number 9120

you can get in touch with them
info at moennig-adler.de (substitute the at with @) they are nice enough to answer. I have been asking about a flute.

The company is still active and is now operating together with Adler, this might be a giveaway of where these saxophones were made because Mönning (or Moenning) did make lots of woodwinds but I don't think that they made saxophones (which Adler did).

Several years ago I wrote to Markneukirchen museum about these saxophones. Employer of museum said me that they have not information about serial numbers and dates of production of Monnig saxophones.

Hi!
I have bought an old "Diamant" from Gebr. Mönnig in Denmark ca. in 1985.
After restauration i play it not too good!
Meanwhile it sounds pretty good and needs a new service to fix some little parts.
In 2004 I contacted Gebr. Mönnig in Markneukirchen. The disappointing information was, that the complete manufacturing informations have been lost when Gebr. Mönnig became "volkseigen" VEB ca. in 1947.
