Default ALTO jody jazz dv vs dukoff

I have a jody jazz dv for my tenor and love it. I have a dukoff for my alto. I been thinking of sending it off to get it worked on. But before I do so I was wondering how the DV compared to the dukoff especially one that has been reworked.

The Dukoff's are very bright, harsh and hard to control from my experience. Sanborn's have been customized and work for him, but certainly not for everyone. Personally I much prefer the JJ DV. Jody really did it with the DV. I play a DV 7 alto piece that I think is the best alto piece I've ever played, effortless to control, rich sounding with excellent depth and loads of body to the sound, centered and powerful, and much more versitile. The control from a whisper to exceptional power is pretty incredible. Play them side by side and you will see what I mean. I vote DV and prefer the 7.

I had a Mojo'd D6 and my DV7 blows it and anything else I have tried away. I just switched to Vandoren Java 2.5 from LaVoz med. and have eliminated the squeaking. I play a Shotblast 82Z and it seems to be a perfect match.

The DV is so easy to control and easy to play that I think the comparison isn't even close. Dukoffs always feel restricting to me and the DV is the most flexible and free playing piece I've tried.

+1 to all of this. I unloaded my Dukoff tenor piece on Ebay.

I second this. I've had both and felt that the DV is a far superior mouthpiece.

I unloaded a Guardala Traditional BeBop, Morgan, SR Tech, Beechler and many others. By the way, the Guardala was horrible. Bought a 50's Berg and just got a Morgan Excalibur. I just don't see why people rave about these. To each his own.
